Cashier
BJ’s Country Market is hiring a Cashier. The Cashier is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience to all guests and ensuring the storefront is kept clean and organized.
Duties
Leadership & Teamwork
• Ongoing documentation of items that are scanning incorrectly or need a price per management
Customer Service
• Greeting customers as they enter the store; offering assistance and answering questions
• Ringing through purchases as required
Customer Focus/Experience
• Maintaining a clean and organized cash/front area; ensuring everything looks full, is tagged and priced accurately
• Stocking and filling up supplies (e.g. napkins, forks, plates) for customers
• Restocking and facing all local vendor stands within the cash area
• Filling produce counter on a regular basis; checking existing product to ensure it is fresh and sellable
General Store Management
• Completing Opening and Closing/Night Checklists when shift allows
• Ensuring garbage’s are emptied on a regular basis; picking up garbage on the patio during summer hours
• Ensuring the walkways are salted as required in the winter
The Cashier is also responsible for performing any other duties related to their position as directed by the Lead Cashier and, when schedule and workload permit, the Store Manager.
Working Conditions:
• Variable hours as scheduled, Monday to Sunday
• Breaks are dependent on length of shift and are compliant with current employment standards
• Requires long periods of standing
• Previous experience in customer service or client-focused work is an asset
• Smart Serve required to assist on the patio
• On-the-job training is provided and mandatory, including but not limited to:
o AODA Training
o Health & Safety Training
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
