Job Description

Position Purpose:  Within a team of laboratory professionals, the Laboratory Technician will process samples upon arrival at the laboratory and support the efficient delivery of accurate and proprietary laboratory analysis to Cargill and customers.

Principal Accountabilities

Mycotoxin Testing (30%)

  • Vomitoxin, Zearalenone, Fumonisin, Aflatoxin and T-2 testing using ELISA based method
  • Maintenance of all of the equipment in the toxin area and resolve all technical issues
  • Maintain Neogen check sample program
  • Maintain proper control charting for all mycotoxins tested

IX NIR Scanning (20%)

  • Scanning of all IX raw materials within 2 days of sample arrival
  • Troubleshooting IX instrument, maintaining control charts and monitoring samples

Sample Login (15%)

  • Unpack and label all incoming raw material and finished product samples for lab analysis
  • When needed, assist with forage unpacking labelling and login
  • Ensure appropriate tests are assigned to individual sample types
  • Coordinate appropriate broker lab test assignment and shipping.  NIR monitoring and development sample login

Strathroy Plant Hold and Release Program Analysis (15%)

  • Quantab strip testing for all hold and release daily
  • CHARM Mycotoxin analysis as required for incoming ingredient shipments (STAT Priority)

Safety and Vacation Coverage (10%)

  • Perform Nitrate strip testing for all forage samples
  • Maintain proper control charting for all Nitrate testing
Education RequirementPost Secondary Diploma Experience Requirement

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • Complete daily tasks accurately and efficiently, working under limited supervision
  • Must be able to adjust to shifting priorities and willing to follow direction from supervisor
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post secondary education
  • Familiarity with Quality Control principles
  • Working knowledge of WHIMIS safety standards
  • French is an asset
