In part 2 of the interview webinar series we’ll dig into some of the hardest to answer questions you’ll receive during most conversations with a prospective employer. How should you respond when an employer says, “Tell me about yourself”? What if you get the dreaded “weakness” question? What is the best way to answer a behavioural question? After the webinar is complete, you’ll know how to tell a STAR story, use the “Sandwich Method”, and use the acronym CAPE to start your interview the right way. By the end you’ll have some tested and effective strategies and techniques for answering interview questions so that you don’t have to wing it! Take the time now to invest in and prepare for your upcoming interviews so that you give yourself an even greater chance to impress the employer and get the job.

YJCS Information Session

The responsibility of job seeking can be a large undertaking for a youth to navigate alone. Between balancing school and looking for summer/part-time employment, there are many pre-employment steps to consider to present yourself to employers as the best candidate for the role. The Youth Job Connection Summer (YJCS) offers eligible* youth ages 15-18 the opportunity to develop job readiness skills while being paid for participation in the program. From resume building, to communication and networking skills, and career planning – the YJCS program assists and guides youth during the transition from school to job searching and securing a work placement.

Community Employment Choices (CEC) welcomes parents, guardians, teachers, and high school students to attend this virtual information session. Learn about how CEC supports job seeking youth who could use a kickstart to their employment journey.

It can be really difficult to be in full, confident job search mode when all you’d rather do is sit at home and feel a bit sorry for yourself. Confidence is essential to job seekers, whether it’s related to networking, cold calling, or presenting yourself competitively in a job interview. This workshop will look to normalize some of the frustrating feelings you might be having, while also providing tested ways to boost your confidence in order to achieve your career and life goals.
